PK Carsport fourth in Silverstone

This past Sunday marked the beginning of the 2009 FIA GT Championship for PK Carsport and their first season back with Corvette Motorsport since 2007.The first race at Silverstone unfortunately was not a success for Mike Hezemans and Anthony Kumpen. The PK-Carsport riders had to be content with 4th place.

In the qualifications on Saturday Mike Hezemans had driven to the fourth best time, good for a place on the second row. "I got away good and was able to hold back Moreau" Mike explains. "But the car was not good. When I pitted, I was in fourth position, when Anthony took the wheel."

"In itself, I turned the proper time but I had far too little front grip"
says Anthony Kumpen. "After the free trainings on Friday we had modified the adjustment, but it did not become better. Also after the qualifications we have tried another adjustment but also did not give immediately the desired result."

After the second pitstop Mike Hezemans took over from teammate Anthony Kumpen. "All the same I thought we could finish third but Moreau had a good pitstop and came just before me on track ... and immediately ran away from me. We finish fourth, a result where I am not satisfied. I dare call it even bad. The car was just not good enough, there is not much more to say. About two weeks waiting Adria, we will still have some left by then."

"If you come to win and fourth is the best you can achieve, that is not good" says Kumpen. "We started fourth and finished fourth. We would have liked it to be to be better."

The next outing for PK Carsport is the 2nd round of the FIA GT in Adria Italy the 16th of May.
